Making predictions is a difficult task because, within a year, I will have to look back and see if I was completely wrong, brilliantly correct, or a combination of both, as is often the case. However, experience is valuable, as seen by my top ten predictions for cannabis in 2022:

  • After November 19, public consumption salons will open in California, Nevada, and Denver, ushering in a new chapter in the integration of cannabis into society.
  • The first pioneers of cannabis-based hospitality will emerge in hotels and resorts.
  • Cosmetics, clothing, and cámo-based fashion products will be more prevalent in mainstream culture, including luxury brands and celebrity endorsements.
  • Mexico will legalize cannabis with a framework before the end of the year.
    In theory, cannabis will be legalized in Germany by the end of the year, but not in practice.
  • This year, as more jurisdictions and countries legalize, the industry’s highs will become more pronounced and produced at a faster rate.
  • There will be no significant federal reform in the United States.
  • The corporate cannabis industry in the United States will continue to face competition from inherited cannabis entrepreneurs.
  • The cannabis heirloom will continue to fight to enter the legal market and compete with corporate cannabis.
  • Cannabis consumers will want more products from artisanal producers, and players in the legacy/equity market will gain market share in 2022.

The legalization of cannabis in Mexico and Germany in 2022 will be a landmark event that will have far-reaching consequences in Europe and Latin America. Europe, including Germany, will advance slowly in the creation of brands, which means that there will be no marijuana stores in the near future, but there will be progress. Mexico may face a veto from its president if the law is not to its liking, since this prediction is still in limbo, but I believe the law will be passed in the end.

It’s a travesty that the United States doesn’t do anything at the federal level, but that’s how I see it. It’s sometimes good to be ambiguous, so we’ll see whether Biden is willing to keep his reform promise. No, according to my crystal ball. During election years, Democrats always stay away from reform, mistakenly believing that they will be saved by the ballot box. It only improves things for them, but that is their playbook.

Each group will take the most of the year to find the areas of integration and commitment that will allow them to make the sacrifices that both need. It’s a fantastic quote, but the conversation is already in motion, and I’m hoping for a midpoint or a long war of mutually assured destruction between two markets. This year should see the start of genuine negotiations and the development of frameworks that will allow both family businesses and corporations to thrive in the legal market.

Meanwhile, the industrial hemp will continue to grow at a rapid pace. I believe that foods and fiber are the next crops that will be phased out of the production of hemp in the United States and across the world (not only CBD). Cosmetics and fashion will have a big year, since both industries are working hard to go green and capitalize on the cannabis craze in popular culture. I know what I’m going to buy: the latest in clothing, food, and anti-wrinkle cream. The market for these references has no bounds, since various generations of consumers embrace a wide range of herbal products.

The public consumption of cannabis and the appearance of hospitality models will be entertaining to see and participate in. The difficulty that every fumeta has with displacements will be resolved. Finally, I’ll be able to visit a consumption hall and even stay in a hotel that allows me to freely purchase and use marijuana. To be able to curl up in bed with a vape while watching South Park.

It will cost the communities to become used to consumption, but if done correctly, confidence will return with more vigour, and opportunities for these entrepreneurs and the general public will expand. It is critical that these trailblazers do a good job, otherwise there may be a significant reaction in public consumption. It’s the cannabis industry’s next frontier, and we need to do it well.

The amount of activity and innovation will increase as more people consume cannabis and more businesses enter this space. And I haven’t even mentioned Hollywood, which may finally place the herb in the appropriate perspective with intelligent contents that captivate and inspire. It will be exciting to see what new faces emerge as cannabis takes center stage in mainstream culture.

As the cinturones open, the cannabis industry will move faster than ever in 2022, and the highs will be even more extreme. We’ll all have to move more slowly, listen more carefully, and take better care of ourselves.
